village of Mantet. This is where the road ends and
adventure begins. In the form of the GR10, the Pyrenean
footpath, which twists away over the horizon towards
the Lacs de Carança and Mont Louis. 'La Girada'
is a perfect base for exploring this wild mountainous
region:
on the edge of the Mantet Natural Reserve, the legendary
mountain of the Catalans, the Canigou, and a whole
wealth of streams, wildlife, and pure air; And then
there's the village with its great café-restaurant,
the Bouf'tic, reputed throughout the region for its
copious servings, impromptu concerts and late nights
around the fire.
